19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved four initial chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
